National Geographic Magazine isn’t something I read a lot. This isn’t for lack of desire or interest, mind you.
The honest truth is: I’ve already got so many things (books, magazines, online items) on my reading list already that I just can’t add NGM, as fascinating as it is.
Returning a book to the library the other day, I perused the current issue, which has a long article on the Coast Redwoods, one of my favorite parts, and trees, of California.
What sold me was the gatefold: a photo composite of the entire length of a Coast Redwood, from trunk to crown. You can see this gorgeous photo here but believe me, it looks better in print.
So I headed to the bookstore at lunch today and bought myself a copy, most likely something that I will keep. No doubt it’ll find a place next to my book on Coast Redwoods.
Back at the office, I was showing the magazine to my co-workers, unfolding the over two foot long gatefold for all to see. One of my co-workers burst out laughing.
“What?” I asked.
“GeekHiker,” she chuckled, “this is a centerfold for you, isn’t it?”
“I… er… um…”
*blush*
Maybe next time I should pick up a Playboy…
