Bad Blogger! Very Bad Blogger!

Geez, I haven’t blogged a thing this week, have I?

Truth is, all I’ve done this week is go to work, come home, watch TV, e-mail & chat, read, and sleep.  I’ve been the most boring person on the face of this earth

And yeah, I know, there’s some pretty stiff competition out there.

But I’m heading out of town this weekend.  I’ll take pictures too.  So hopefully more exciting stuff is just around the bend…

Bad Trip

It’s rare that I have a bad hike. Really rare. So rare as to call it practically non-existent for me.

Things that might ruin a hike for others don’t faze me in the least. Cold? No problem, I’m sweating from the exercise anyway. Hot? The breeze will feel just that much better when I reach the top of the ridge. Pouring Rain? Meh, water never hurt anybody, and I’ll just stop at Malibu Seafood for some clam chowder afterwards. Wind? Uh… okay, high wind is just a pain in the butt.

But to actually ruin a hike takes an awful lot. Sunday just happened to be the day.

You can lead a user to the keyboard…

Today I got an e-mail from a user, a new temporary employee, with a whole list of things that were “wrong” with her system and needed to be fixed.

Item #4 was this: “my direct fax to e-mail number 123-456-7890 doesn’t work.  People tell me the number hangs up.  I need a viable fax number.”

HIKE: Switzer Falls

Switzer Falls is kind of an odd hike: it’s a waterfall you can’t really reach.

You can hike to the brink of it from above, or to a lower cascade below, but without some truly foolhardy scrambling along deteriorating canyon walls, you’ll be hard-pressed to reach the falls themselves.

Switzer Falls is a good, quick hike for those not in the mood for the long drive to higher-mountain destinations, but it can be very, very popular.

Happy Birthday TBF!

Today is The Best Friend’s birthday, and since I’ve never had a public forum to do it before, I’m going to take this opportunity to say: Happy Birthday my friend!

Good thing this is all anonymous though.  If it weren’t, she’d probably hurt me! 😀

Missing

It’s been an odd day, this Fourth of July 2007.  For the first time since we broke up, really, I’ve missed The Ex Girlfriend.

Well, not exactly.  Let me explain.

Happy 4th of July!

I’ve got tons of other things to say, posts to write, all that sort of thing.  For the moment, though, I’m just going to keep things simple, and wish anybody and everybody who happens to wander by this little blog today a Happy 4th of July.  Be safe and enjoy the day!

Follow the leader

Saturday I did something that, in all my years of hiking, I’ve never actually done before: I led a hike.

Now, don’t misunderstand me, I’ve taken friends out hiking before.  Small groups, usually no more than four people total, that I’ve taken on trails that I’m familiar with.  Anyone who knows me knows that I enjoy sharing the places and trails that I love with others.

This hike, however, was something entirely new: an actual hike, posted on a big-time online board with an open invitation for anyone & everyone to sign up.  Even people I *gasp* didn’t know.
