Okay, so I know what y’all are thinking: “Yeah, fine, GeekHiker. These trips and hikes and photos and stuff are all well and good. But when are you going to post the stuff we really want to read about: your trials and tribulations in the dating world. Having women blow you off, confuse you, or otherwise set out to break your spirit. Get to the good stuff, dammit!”
Yeah, I’m clairvoyant like that, and I know that’s what you’re thinking.
Okay, fine.
So on one of last weekend’s hikes (not the Verdugo’s; sorry kids), I did happen to meet a very nice woman. Brilliant sense of humor. I know this because it’s exactly like mine.
No, I’m not going to give her a silly nickname. Not yet anyway.
Turns out she works relatively close (by LA standards) to me. I asked her if she had seen Movie X, and when she said no, I asked if she would like to see it with me after work sometime during the week. She said yes, we exchanged cards, and when I suggested that we might want to grab a bite to eat before the movie, she suggested a location in town to go for both.
Monday I sent her a short e-mail, asking which day was best for her.
In all honesty, I really didn’t expect a response. After The Nurse and Pink Sweatshirt, I’m learning the fine art of keeping my expectations low. Hidden-underground-nuclear-proof-vice-presidential-secret-location-bunker kind of low.
But she replied.
And we’re on for Thursday.
Now, truth be told, I have no idea what this is. Maybe it’s a date. Maybe it’s not. We’re going to see a movie. We might go to get a meal beforehand, but since she hasn’t said so directly, so I really have no idea.
But, honestly, I’m really not worried about it. It’s a girl who evidently isn’t completely horrified by the idea of being seen in a public place with me, and we’re just going out to see a movie, maybe grab a bite to eat. I’m going to go out and have fun, and that’s my only goal.
And that’s it. All there is to tell.
Okay kids, wish me luck with… whatever the hell this is.
A little definition helps, sometimes, unless it really is just a whatever for her too.
The whatevers make my head hurt.

just a girl – LOL, yeah, I agree. Next time I’m thinking I should get it in writing. 😉

Whatever it is…focus on having fun and not worrying about whatever it is and the next whatever with her, will be revealed… or defined quickly. 🙂
