It’s been a long day. In fact, it’s been the longest day of the year.
Being the height of summer, and having no definitive plans for the day, I figured I’d go ahead and do the things I knew I’d like.
So, what makes for the gosh-darn-near-perfect summer day?
- Sleeping in a bit.
- Watching CBS Sunday Morning, which is kind of the Sunday paper for those too lazy to read the paper
- Eating English Muffins with butter and jelly
- Being reminded of an old, possibly the very first, crush (and noting she still looks pretty damn good, too)
- Remarkably light traffic on the freeway
- Spending time at a quiet spot in the mountains
- Reading
- Writing
- Eating fresh blueberries from the farmer’s market
- Seeing snakes, lizards, squirrels, butterflies, dragonflies, tadpoles and hawks
- Napping in the high summer sun, being cooled by a gentle breeze, lulled off by the sound of a lazily flowing creek
- Seeing the sun go drop in the sky, watching the light and shadows change, admiring the backlit leaves on the trees
- Not wanting to leave, laying in the evening shade on a sun-warmed rock
- Sharing hiking tips with random strangers on the trail back
- Enjoying the amazingly light traffic on the return, especially for a summer beach day with school out
- Calling Dad
- Fish & Chips from the local fish place
- Relaxing on the couch, watching a movie
It sure is going to be hard to go to work tomorrow…
GH, I officially want your life.

I had to work yesterday, not that the weather here was particularly conducive to being outdoors. Your day sounds absolutely lovely though.

We all need one of those days every now and then. Glad you had yours.

Wow! Very evocative! You sounded like a lizard sunbathing on a rock — content and carefree! 😉 That was a perfect day. We don’t have blueberries on our farmers market yet…

Mrs. Chuck Bartowski – Nah, there are big chunks missing too.
S’dizzle – I’ve done the weekend work-thing. I feel for ya.
Homer_Dog – I wish I had them more often!
K – I was like that much of the time. Hope your blueberrys arrive soon!
Ruby – Couch-rock-couch. Not that much, really. 🙂
Mel Heth – Shame there aren’t more women in town that like that kind of Sunday, eh?
Hebba – You’re welcome to, though I don’t usually take the bottom drawer hiking with me… 😉
