You’ve Lost That Writing Feeling

Ever have one of those weeks where the writing bug disappears entirely?

This is one of those weeks.  Apparently.

I keep finding myself starting a post, getting about halfway through a draft, then just staring at the screen feeling “meh” about it.

I have lots of things I want to write about, but for some reason the motivation to finish the post I’ve started just goes right out the window.

In fact, just after I typed that last sentence, I yawned.  Not kidding.

Oh, well.  I’m saving all these partial drafts and half-assed ideas.  And just as soon as the motivation comes back, y’all just might see a flood of posts.

For the moment, though, I’m gonna shut down the computer, read for a while, then turn on the TV, and watch some PBS (“Frontline” and “American Experience”).  Maybe “V”, too, just to keep my geek-quotient up.

If I’m not going to write, I may as well be educated and entertained, eh?

  1. This is so true and is usually the reason i personally don’t get most of my ideas ever finished.

  2. There inlies why I haven’t posted in what feels like MONTHS. I’m still around, just can’t bring myself to sit down and write. I’m not doing bad, just busy. I feel bad, this is the first year I haven’t done NaBloPoMo.

  3. “one of those weeks where the writing bug disappears” – i feel like i have one of those blogs – hehe. you’re always so good about writing. take a break. send us some smoke signals instead.

  4. There must be something going around. I’ve been like this too for 2-3 weeks. Dag. We’ve gotta get back in the saddle!

Ok I have an idea for you. Pictures? I love your photos. Just throw a few up now & then until you’re inspired to write.

  5. On a sidenote– I’ve been watching V! I’m intrigued enough to get irritated that I have to wait a week for the next episode.

  6. I watched V online the other night. I tend to try on any show that features cast members from Firefly. I like it, but I read that after this month it won’t be on until March! Grumpy grump grump on that!

  7. Well, sometimes when you have TOO MANY ideas, you have one of those “analysis paralysis” moments where you feel too overwhelmed to write about any of them. It happens. But then one day the urge to write will come back, suddenly and mysteriously, and then you will blog again. It’s just normal ebbs and flows.

In the meanwhile, enjoy life as it is! We will be waiting patiently for the next post.

  8. I think there’s something in the air or the water. I’ve been struggling with this for months. Hope you enjoyed your reading and TV! 🙂

  9. Ugh, it’s been tough for me too. The creative juices are coming in drips and drabs.

Take a break and I’m sure inspiration and motivation will return. At least that’s what I tell myself.

  10. You know what will help motivate you? Hugs. Hugs fix everything.

  11. Kyle – Welcome to the site. I suppose it happens to a lot of us, doesn’t it?

CripKitty – LOL, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do NaBloPoMo!

BlakSpring – Not a bad idea, though they might frown on the campfire in the middle of L.A. Besides, your blog has exciting tales of international travel!

Spleeness – Hm, but that means I’ve got to sit down and go through all my pics which, oddly, I can’t seem to get inspired to do either!

TGAW – LOL, and then it goes on hiatus!

MissMcCracken – On the other hand, you won’t have to endure repeats…

K – I don’t know that it’s too many ideas as much as I can’t seem to muster the energy to finish a single darn one…

Mel Heth – Glad I’m not alone on this one…

Homer-Dog – Sounds like good advice to me!

MissMcCracken – Not possible, on sooooooo many levels…
