Slipping Back Into Routine

It seems like I’m having a bit of difficulty getting back up to the speed of normal life.  Suddenly it feels like there’s so much to do.

Today I headed back to the gym for the first time since I left town.  Oy.

Amazing how two little weeks can make you feel like a newbie.

Seeing one of the trainers there today reminded me that, before I’d left town, I was going to ask her if her cute friend was single.

Unfortunately, she was in a training session with someone, and I didn’t want to interrupt.

“Pardon me for interrupting your training, ma’am, I just want to ask the trainer here if her hot friend from a couple of weeks ago is single and ready to mingle.  You don’t mind, do you?”

Seems a bit rude, don’t ya think?

Of course, there’s also the issue of not coming across as “I’ve been thinking about your cute friend non-stop for the last two weeks because I’m secretly a raving lunatic.”  In all honesty, I haven’t; seeing the trainer just reminded me of the whole thing.

Meh, I’ll play it by ear.

But I digress: returning to the gym was a whole knew type of pain.

Wasn’t there a song lyric about “starting all over again”?

We shall see how sore I am tomorrow morning.

At the same time, the living room is covered in camping gear.  There’s a path between the door and the couch, and that’s pretty much the only free space on the carpet right now.

There’s a ton of laundry sitting in the bedroom, fairly screaming “wash me or you’ll be going to work in your skivvies.”

I’ve only just started to catch up on everyone’s blogs (did y’all become more prolific writers while I was gone or what?).

And there are bills to pay, like rent.  Come to think of it… oh, shit… uh, never mind, rent’s paid.  Heh.

And, oh yeah, there’s that whole work b.s.

As well, I started thinking about putting up the vacation posts, and realized that I want to put up a whole lot more pictures with them.

Which means I need to do it on Flickr so it interfaces with WordPress.

So, I need to get me a Flickr account.

But Flickr was picked up by Yahoo, which means I need a “GeekHiker” Yahoo account.

And you can just imagine that, working in IT, I just love the idea of yet another username and password.

Even after that’s all set up, I’ve got to wade through all 900+ pictures, resize the selects, put together the panoramic shots, etc.

Believe it or not, I’m feeling bad because I probably won’t get any of that done before the weekend, and I hate being a damn tease.

Not that I’m the type of guy to put any kind of pressure on myself.  Oh, no.  Not me.  Never…

I mean, if I’m gonna be a tease, I’d much rather it be to the cute friend of the gym trainer.

(And just like that, the post becomes circular.  Ooh, blog-writing magic!)

Luckily, I have no plans for the weekend, other than being a lazy bum, so I will put together the massive vacation post.  With pictures, ‘natch.

I hope.

  1. My run yesterday went well and then I had to get out of bed today…oooch.

If you show up in your unmentionables it would definitely get the office gossiping. Or make you new friends 😀

I could write your post…”I went, I saw and I came back”. Done. Easy. Concise.

  2. We had to do something while you were gone! Don’t ya just hate coming back from vacation … laundry, bills, routine … ugh!

  3. i DARE you to use that phrase “single and ready to mingle” outside of your blog (picturing you in a polyester leisure suit and a thick gold chain – hey baby what’s your sign… are you single and ready to mingle?)… and let me know if it works… ba ha ha ha. naw, seriously… good luck with the friend-of-the-trainer

  4. I just pictured you interrupting someone’s workout to ask the trainer if her friend was indeed single and ready to mingle…you also did one of those used car salesman finger-point-gun-things…tee hee.
    Welcome back!

  5. Ruby’s description of her mental image of you is hilarious…

  6. Just a Girl – yeah, very sore today. But I will go back tomorrow. More because I’m stubborn than anything else.

dobegil – LOL, well, I’m about halfway through catching up (been going in random order, no less)

charlotte – Yep, my polyester workout gear I always wear to the gym!

Ruby – Yep, I’ll have to go back to the SuaveHiker idea. Thanks for the welcome back, I’ll be catching up on your blog tomorrow, promise!

charlotte – true, but it does give me an idea for a halloween costume…
