Today I headed over to Lowe’s to pick up three items. Three little items. Hand carried them to the register myself without breaking a sweat.
Before I could stop the clerk, the items were deposited into a plastic bag that I didn’t need. Amazing how frustrating that can be.
But here’s the really astounding part: it generated a receipt that was over 21 inches long:
Nearly two feet of paper for three items I can hold in my hand. Enough paper to print the return policy six times.
Oh, yeah, this is a dumb little post. Still, almost two feet… that kind of waste is dammed impressive, don’t you think?
I would say recycle the paper but the form you have to fill out to recycle the paper is probably twice as long as your receipt.

I’m impressed, you had a tape measure. I would have had to look for 2 rulers!

That’s ridiculous. I’m sorry but nothing irritates me more than such waste by companies that could make a huge difference by cutting back. Well, that’s not true. Other things do irritate me more- a mosquito in my room when I’m trying to sleep for example. But this is on the list. And we wonder why our world is the way it is…

I’ve been known to give the bag back.
Even though the receipt is ridiculous I’d enjoy the shredding of it that much longer. 😀
HD: You have to fill out a form for recycling? Doesn’t it just get picked up?

You know, I think I had a brain-fart when I wrote my comment. I must have been thinking about bottles and cans.

Homer-Dog – They do things different up there, don’t they?
dobegil – Yep, I’m handy around the house too.
brandy – Indeed, amazing the waste.
just a girl – I didn’t have the energy to give the bag back. Do you enjoy shredding that much?
Ruby – Is that a comment on the receipt or the lazy nature of my post? 😉
Homer – Oh, gotcha. Although, in CA, you never know. The state just loves its forms.

I agree with JaG, shredding stuff is fun! the longer the paper the better. I think I’m on my fourth shredder – I keep burning them out.

Homer-Dog & just a girl – I’d probably enjoy it more if I didn’t have an old strip shredder that jammed all the time.
dobegil – LOL

Seriously.
It doubles my recycling. (Home Depot isn’t much better, BTW)
