Most years I’m loathe to take down the Christmas stuff. Place always seems a bit drab afterwards.
This afternoon, though, I pulled it all down. Packed it into boxes and into the closet it all went. Found myself downright eager to do so, I’ll admit.
I wonder why?
Because you’re ready to welcome the new year: new possibilities, new adventures and dare I say it, fun! 😀
Or maybe I’m being too optimistic.

I agree with Wendy. We’re all eager to get going into the new year. With our Christmas stuff down our house seems more open, airy, and bright – a good start for the new year.

It’s a fresh start! Woohoo for fresh starts!

What they said; fresh start and ready to kick last year to the curb.

Usually, I’m ready to take down all the Christmas decorations right after the New Year because they’ve been up since Thanksgiving (I LOVE the holidays). However, since I was so late getting things up this year I’m going to let the tree linger in all its glory for another week or two.
But WOOHOO on a New Year, you’re energized!

If it was me doing so, I’d say because 2008? Not a stellar year for me and I’m eagerly anticipating the fabulousness that awaits in 2009.
But, y’know, that’s just me.
Must be the whole “I’m entering into a new decade, full of infinite possibilities…and perhaps, love?” thing.

Are your readers right? Is it because you might have that little spark of optimism and anxiousness burning for the year ahead?
I’m always sad to take down my tree, but it does make my apartment look bigger, which is nice. 🙂

I think my roommates may be wishing that I would catch a little of your spirit. I can’t quite bring myself to take down the Christmas lights and I still plug them in every night…

Wendy – Well, I suppose that’s one possibility…
Homer-Dog – Okay, that’s two votes…
Ruby – I guess that’s three. I’m sensing a pattern here…
Just A Girl – Four. Yet, I don’t feel quite that way. After all, last year, for the first two-thirds at least, was pretty good.
Anya – That’s usually how I am. And that’s five…
East Coast Teacher – Hmmm… yeah, mid-thirties doesn’t feel like much of a milestone.
Blaksrping – That’s six. Next year be sure to put something up! I’ve found just one silly little string of lights during the holidays helps immeasurably.
Mel Heth – I don’t know. I don’t really feel it (especially given my New Year’s post), so I’m not sure what it is…
Aly – Heh, I say leave ‘em up as long as you like!

Maybe because there are so many more holidays coming that don’t involve sitting at home. The going-out holidays are energizing!

I love putting them out but I also love putting them away. I love how my house feels clean and simple and in order again. Maybe thats your minds way of saying its time. Its ready to be clean and simple and in order. Not that all decorations are cluttering but honestly, theres nothing quite like your home and your life being a little more simple.
