So here I am, in the middle of my trip, having written a couple of posts, but not had the time (or, quite frankly, energy, being on vacation and all) to put them online.
Just A Little Something

Oregon Trip Day 6: A Forest of Books
I discovered today another reason that it’s good that I don’t live here: Powell’s City of Books.
Seriously. If I did, I would just have to sign my paycheck over to them and beg to set up a cot in the stacks.

Oregon Trip Day 5: Pirates, Forests, and an Old Movie Theater
One thing I have discovered in Portland: Portlanders take their pirates seriously. And yet, at the same time, manage to be very tongue-in-cheek about it.
I have absolutely no idea how they manage this balance.
But I like it.

Oregon Trip Day 4: Back into the city: Portland!
This morning I discovered the secret to attracting wildlife to the campsite: leave a little water on top of the bear box.
Woke up a bit chilly this morning; temperatures were in the low-thirties.

Oregon Trip Day 3: Crater Lake
Last night’s sleep was a bit of a struggle, sometimes because of the train whistle in the distance (which, while waking me up, was also comforting in an old-fashioned sort of way), and sometimes because my nose kept getting cold.
Tonight, as I write this sitting by the campfire, I’ve already put my baklava in the tent. The schnoz will stay warm tonight, dammit.

Oregon Trip Day 2: The Trip Really Begins
The really fun thing about camp food is that you often find yourself combining whatever is at hand to create a dish. It’s also a great opportunity to experiment, i.e. “I’ve always wanted to try this and trying it out in the middle of a campground is a great idea!”
Well, it’s fun for fools, that is.

Oregon Trip Day One: Weather Weirdness
So the plan was to get up early this morning, jump into the fully packed car, and hit the road.
Of course it didn’t turn out that way, silly, it’s me we’re talking about here. Heh.

Time To Get On The Road*
A couple of you know this already, but now it’s time to let you all in on it: GeekHiker Industries is going on the road!

Not Quiiiite What I’d Hoped For
(Updated below…)
So, I did make it to the Fair today, but it wasn’t quite the experience that I’d hoped it would be.
Not that I can sit here and say that it was a bad experience, per se. Well, apart from being stuck in traffic on the freeway behind a freeway accident on the way home. That kinda sucked, but other than that, it wasn’t bad.
It just didn’t fulfill its, er, potential.

An AfFair to Remember
First off: side note to myself: must be sure to ask the trainer at the gym Monday if the friend she was hanging out with tonight is single because, can I just say, very cute. Plus, in talking, I found out she does data analysis as well, so there’s some definite geek-appeal. Heh.
Well, after some back & forth planning and what-not this week, it seems that…
wait for it…
wait for it…
