Friday Sillyness: Fortune Cookie Style

I got most of the way through an interesting, profound post.  One that touched on both current events and the past, one that would (hopefully) lead to some interesting thoughts, comments, and discussion.

Then I thought: “frak it, who wants that on a Friday?”

Nobody.  It’s Friday!

I Hate That Guy

(I’m sure there’s one at every gym.  Yes, even yours.)

Oh, yeah, we see you.

Don’t worry your pretty little head about that.  We, the average-Joes of the gym, see you every night.

All 6’4”, rugged-yet-cultured handsomeness of you.

Off The Trail

First of all, let me just say: life ain’t all bad.

I’m still working.  Still going out and doing stuff.  Still meeting new and interesting people.  Still have a roof over my head and food on the table.

Whatever little complaints I may have from day to day (including this week at work, which proved to be exceptionally annoying) life, on the balance, is pretty good.

On the other side of that balance, though, sits one very heavy weight: I haven’t been on the trail in over a month.

Could’a, Would’a, Should’a*

I could’a come home from work, done some cleaning around the house, maybe caught up on my laundry.

I would’a sat down and worked on the long post I’ve had in mind all day, but inspiration did not strike.

I should’a gone to the gym, since I’ve skipped a couple of workouts already.

But I didn’t do any of that.

Change Isn’t Always Good, Methinks…

The gym I go to isn’t one of the major chains, like 24 Hour Fitness or Bally’s.  Instead, I go to a small gym in one of the local corporate buildings.

Of course, not being one of the bigger gyms, it doesn’t have those things that are all important to modern fitness.  You know, the juice bar, the professional masseuses, the kids area, and the pro shop.  (Sadly, I’m not even making those up to be funny.  Those are the “features” of one of the local major gyms!)

On the plus side: its got all the basics, everyone who works there knows all the clients, and it’s never very crowded.  The only thing I really wish it had is a pool.

Friday Sillyness: Mazes and Sharks!

Yeah, I know, I haven’t been posting much lately.

As usual, I’ve got lots on my mind, but life of late is just sort of the hum-drum, day-to-day of going to work, the gym, reading, watching TV, etc.  Not exactly blogging material, when you’re mostly doing the routine stuff of life.

But in addition to that, yes, there’s always time to waste time playing more Flash games on Kongregate!  My latest recommendations:

What the…?

I’ve never been a huge sports fan.  The occasional game of basketball, perhaps, and watching the Super Bowl.  Sometimes.  Mostly for the commercials and an excuse to eat chips and dip.  Overall, though, they just don’t hold my interest.

Geeky & (Sorta) Outdoorsy

It doesn’t happen often, or at least not so clearly.

But sometimes, I manage to be completely in touch with both my geeky side, and my outdoorsy side, in a single weekend.

They Say…

… the worst day fishing is better than the best day at work.

Same thing holds for photography, as it turns out.

Post Vacation Capper

(There’s, um, a few swear words in this one…)

I had a little capper to my vacation I thought you’d get a kick out of.

Despite the somewhat lonely train ride, I came back into town rested, relaxed, getting over a cold, and in a pretty good mood.

So, of course, I get an e-mail.
