Wow, has this place become boring, eh?
Heck, you think this place is dull? You should see my life.

No, this isn’t heralding my return to regular blogging, but I just couldn’t resist sharing this one.

As Mondays go, today was not one of my better ones.
Of course, I’m always hesitant to say that I had a “horrible” day. I’ve often found that when I go over the top in describing how bad any particular day was, the Universe has a way of responding “Oh, yeah? You thought that was bad? Just wait til you see TUESDAY, bucko!”
Given that, I’ll just say that today was an exceptionally, um, frustrating day.

For the past couple of days, I’ve been thinking about writing a post on which I would muse about where my time has gone. It never quite came together.
Not that the time-crunch isn’t a real factor, mind you. It very much is.
I rolled out of that certification test thinking that I’d have all kinds of additional time on my hands. Instead, I’ve been putting in the OT hours at work, busy hanging out with friends, catching up on my reading and the like. I frequently end up at the end of the day, a day on which I swore I’d sit down and do some writing, instead thinking “its 11:00 and I’ve got work tomorrow, I should head to bed.”
But, I realized over the last weekend, time isn’t the only factor.

Is it possible to have a sugar hangover?
Last Friday night I was looking down the throat of my Saturday birthday with absolutely no plans. Nothing. Zip. Nada.
Last week was a long week, with a lot of overtime to get several systems up to date. It was a week of late nights, quick meals, and not nearly enough sleep.
Or, as they say, “a day in the life of the typical IT guy.”

Somewhere out there, this guy exists, I’m sure of it.
I’m thinking he probably (hopefully) suffers from a case of OCD.
He’s that guy with the amazingly, astoundingly, must-be-see-to-be-believed… perfect teeth.

First and foremost: a very heartfelt “thank you” to all who commented on my last post. I’ve replied individually, but a big ‘ol internety group hug seems good too.

(Not sure what to write here, and slightly embarrassed that the loss for words isn’t due to anything emotional, just that there doesn’t seem to be much to say on the matter. Still, I can’t help but feel that, as I’ve told a couple of tales over the years at the holidays, I would be remiss not to write something.)
After spending all of Saturday at the library studying, I accepted an invite to head out on the town for dinner and drinks with my friends.
My only hope was that having a couple of beers would not delete the information I’d stuffed into my head while at the library, alternately studying and looking out the window at what is, apparently, a never-ending cycle of June Gloom.

I would have to be exceptionally lazy to go through a three-day holiday weekend and NOT sit down to write at least a little something.
Unfortunately, it turns out that I actually am that exceptionally lazy, or at least very much have the potential to be. Despite this, I’m sitting in front of the computer on Monday afternoon, typing away. I’m driven, I think, less by any particular need to write as by the fact that the sun hasn’t made an appearance all day (oh, the glories of June Gloom). Were it not for that, I would have been over at the park with a good book, laying in the dappled sunlight of a tree.
Stupid June Gloom.

Last night I tried to work on a post, and everything I wrote was utter crap. Really, really horrific writing. I think, perhaps, my heart wasn’t truly in it.
I’m juggling too much right now, I think.
So here’s the short story…
